Partnerships and Cooperation: Models for the Future
The aging of adults with lifelong disabilities has been recognized for some time and has stimulated initiatives to bring the aging and developmental disabilities systems into meaningful interaction. The best of these efforts have involved the key agents in the continued well-being of these older adults: family caregivers, direct service providers, policy makers, and, of course, the elders themselves. This session will review several such projects across the states, especially the AoA-funded Partners Projects in Maryland and Virginia, in
order to highlight critical elements in successful inter-system cooperation and to suggest models for action to benefit these older adults.
