Advance Lifetime Directive: Planning For Future Care And Support
With advances in care and medicine, many people with disabilities are outliving their parents. This session addresses the necessity of planning for the future care and support, in the absence of the current care provider. The development of an Advance Lifetime Directive, identification of financial resources and protection of benefits will be discussed as well as alternatives for assuring that the results intended are achieved.

Geriatric Assessment of Individuals with Intellectual Disabilities: A Four Part Scale and Assessment Tool
With increased life expectancy individuals with disabilities have a greater chance of developing dementia. Persons with Down syndrome are even more susceptible, therefore at a greater risk. Learning how to access declines in individuals with developmental disabilities in paramount.

Impacts of Aging and Developmental Disabilities
This workshop provides basic information on the impact of the aging processes on the human body and what a provider should be aware of when caring for an aging person with a developmental disability. The participants will have an awareness and understanding of what aging is; how it affects people with developmental disabilities; and how current programs and activities may need to be revised to better serve an aging and older population
