James Stone and the Staff of Third Age

The goals of James A. Stone and Third Age are to assist the increasing aging population with developmental disabilities and older individuals with disabilities to--have a voice in choosing the supports needed in the later life years and to be able to express " I want, I need, I like, or I don't want, I don’t need, or I don't like..." to family members, care givers, direct staff; and all others who are involved in the lives of these individuals.

As each of us are different in our likes and dislikes and we have different expectations based on our life experiences, so does the older population with developmental disabilities. One only has to listen to what an older person has to say to understand what is important to them as individuals.

There are many new options and choices awaiting the emerging aging population with developmental disabilities that offer the chance to determine what is needed or what is enjoyable. The community offers new experiences that may provide the one thing that encourages growth and new interests. For the aging population facing new challenges, there are many resources that may provide the necessary supports to remain active and involved in their personal lives and not have to relocate to different environments.
